The community skills initiative is a free online program to help professionals and job seekers successfully navigate the paths to in-demand roles in a more digital economy.
The Community Skills Initiative (CSI)
Is a free skilling website built upon Microsoft’s Skills for Jobs content to help job seekers, professionals, and students successfully navigate paths to in-demand roles in a more digital economy.
We will host the AI Skill-A-Thon campaign for 1 month starting on Sunday, September 1. The goal of the AI Skill-A-Thon is to increase visibility and to engage more individuals in skilling opportunities.
Our goals include:
Promoting digital skills and employability using the Skills for Jobs initiative in Tempe and East Valley communities
Adding capacity to local organizations by delivering a dynamic skilling campaign
Creating equitable access to skilling for people looking to upskill or reskill

The Competition categories are divided into three categories, and these are:
16-24 years old:
• First place: $1,500
• Second place: $1,000
• Third place: $600
• Fourth place: $250
25-49 years old:
• First place: $1,500
• Second place: $1,000
• Third place: $600
• Fourth place: $250
50+ years and older:
• First place: $1,500
• Second place: $1,000
• Third place: $600
• Fourth place: $250
Essentially, whoever has the most points at the end of the month wins.
The top five winners in each category will be verified by me and a CSI project manager to ensure they qualify for each category. If there is a tie in any category, then we may choose to have a drawing for the top finisher or to split the prize money.
For example, if there is a three-way tie for the 16-24 category, then all three names could be entered into a drawing. The first one to be selected will be awarded $1,500, the second name drawn will be awarded $1,000, the third will be awarded $600, and fourth place $250.
How Does the AI Skill-A-Thon Work?
Individuals will learn new skills through the courses and learning pathways.
Finish courses to earn certificates of completion.
Download the certificate and send it using the certificate upload form on your local CSI website.
Each completed course = 1 point.
Each completed pathway = 10 points.
Each AI-course = 10-point boost!
