FAQs

What happens in a Torpedoes lesson?

In the Torpedoes class, children continue to develop their freestyle and backstroke kick. Children progress into this class by achieving the Glides certificate or by graduating from our Kindergarten 2 classes.

The swimming lessons in our Torpedoes level form the main building blocks for teaching the freestyle stroke. Swimmers in these lessons will learn how to perform a freestyle (Torpedo) kick and will also develop their backstroke kick in preparation for the Marlins swimming class.

What Merit Awards will swimmers receive?

What happens when a swimmer graduates Torpedoes?

The “torpedo” kick is a very important fundamental skill  in learning freestyle, as the stronger the kick, the easier it will be for the child when arm stroking is introduced in our Marlins swimming level.
