I’m Kourtni — a certified academic language therapist, reading specialist, and founder of Read With Kourtni, where we help children with dyslexia unlock their full reading potential.
For years, I’ve supported students, families, and schools across Texas with structured literacy, brain-based reading intervention, and compassionate guidance. I know the fear, confusion, and frustration parents feel when their child struggles — and I’m here to make the journey clearer, calmer, and full of hope.
Over the years, I’ve helped countless families move from struggle to progress through science-based lessons, individualized support, and a genuine love for watching children win.

TEFA is a proposed Texas program that could give families state-managed education funds they can use for approved education services including specialized support for students with dyslexia.
Our TEFA Priority Waitlist doesn’t enroll you in a government program. Instead, it keeps you informed, prepared, and first in line to hear how Read With Kourtni can support your family if TEFA becomes available.

Most Texas families will qualify for TEFA, but the level of eligibility depends on school enrollment, learning needs, and state priority categories. Many children with dyslexia or reading challenges fall into higher-priority groups but understanding your child’s exact status requires clarity. RWK helps you find it.

Yes — every Texas student eligible for public school can apply, including public, private, charter, and homeschool students.
However, TEFA uses a priority-based lottery when spots are limited, so some students have a higher chance of acceptance than others.
TEFA gives priority to students:
*With disabilities
*From families below certain income levels
*With siblings already in TEFA
*Who previously used TEFA and returned to public school
*Who attended public school at least 90% of last year
RWK helps families understand exactly which priority group their child falls into.
TEFA provides an annual education account (similar to an ESA) that covers approved educational expenses such as tutoring, therapy, curriculum, and academic services.
The specific dollar amount depends on the state's appropriations for the year.
RWK can explain what’s covered — and how to maximize it legally.
Families may use TEFA funds for approved education expenses, including:
*Dyslexia therapy
*Reading intervention
*Special education supports
*Curriculum and materials
*Tutoring
*Testing and evaluations
(Not all services are automatically approved — RWK helps parents avoid denials and delays.)
No. TEFA gives families control over how funds are used, but it does not place a child into a specific program.
Parents choose the providers — including dyslexia therapists like RWK — and TEFA pays for approved services.
Most families should apply, because TEFA may provide:
*Additional support not offered by the school
*More flexible, individualized services
*Funding for outside evaluations or therapy
*Options for children not making progress
RWK can help families compare their current services to what TEFA could add.
