My journey started from the time I was born. My mom even jokes that she had to put me on a diet from the time I was 6 months old.
I was the classic chronic dieter, all throughout my life. I remember going on a diet with my mom when I was 13 years old and both of us struggled with dozens of failed diets from that point on.
Fast forward to a moment when I was sitting on a park bench, watching my kid on the playground and suddenly, I had an awful realization… I was a 230lb park bench Mom who couldn’t even muster up the energy or strength to play with my kid. That’s when I decided to make a change. I didn’t know what I didn’t know but I knew I did NOT want to be that person.
I joined Weight Watchers and started doing Tae-Bo (if that doesn’t age me, I don’t know what will). I was absolutely determined to get the weight off and ended up losing close to 100lbs! I was completely hooked on all things fitness and nutrition. I became a personal trainer, started teaching group classes, and was even hired by the US Navy to teach bootcamps for anyone that failed their PRT. Then, I noticed that things stopped working. I didn’t know how to maintain my results and my body wasn’t responding like it used to.
My go-to response was to always:
Add more cardio…
Cut my calories and macros…
Try to be more extreme…
That’s when I started searching the internet for answers. Fortunately, I came across an online forum and found a guy named Erik who was clearly an expert.

My journey started on the other end of the spectrum as Amy. I was always the skinny kid and used to get teased all the time for how small I was (we call that bullying now). I remember in high school getting picked up and thrown in the trash can because of how skinny I was and having comments made on my year book that I crossed out because I was tired of being reminded of my size. Naturally, that led to some serious insecurities and became obsessed with wanting to put on size and get bigger. I noticed that the athletic and strong kids in school got attention from girls so, in my mind, the path was clear.
I got into steroids at a young age and started to put on some size. I went to university and ended up switching my major to Kinesiology because I was infatuated with the human body and building muscle. I thought I wanted to be a chiropractor but after school, I was given an opportunity to work in the marketing department at Muscle Tech. Ultimately, I was instructed with putting together the workouts and diet plans for the Hydroxycut athletes (if that doesn’t age me, I don’t know what will). It didn’t take long for me to venture out on my own since I was doing for them what I wanted to be doing for my own clients.
My thirst for understanding how to shape, optimize, and build the human body never left. I was very much entwined in the bodybuilding community for a long time but eventually recognized the struggle of former competitors and began wanting to help women with a past history of dieting or competing to reclaim their confidence and vibrance.
