The Glides class is the first of eight stages in the Learn to Swim - 400 Gold program, an exciting milestone for any child. Whether they are new to swimming or have had some experience, this class establishes the essential foundations for future swim stages.
In Glides, children are introduced to basic water skills, including submerging their face and head, and learning the skill this level is named after—gliding. For some swimmers, putting their face in the water can be daunting, but with time, trust, and small class sizes, instructors provide the support needed to build confidence.
Breath control is a key focus, with swimmers learning to blow bubbles and control their breathing. In addition, they’ll begin to practice backstroke kicking, setting the stage for further skill development.
Face in the water
Back kicking with a kickboard
Once our Glides students are performing a streamline glide with a small kick on the kickboard on both their front and their back, they then graduate to the Torpedoes swim class.
