Odor Variety (Exposure to varying odor strengths and how the dog adjusts) – Dog works with a consistent amount of odor (e.g., NACSW strength and AKC strength) to build a strong association and clear sourcing behavior.
Distractors – Dog begins learning to ignore mild distractions like food smells or toys placed outside the search area.
Stay at Source (Building value through reinforcement at odor) – Handler uses a high rate of reinforcement at the hide to build value and teach the dog that staying at source is rewarding.

Here’s What We’ll Cover:
Independent Sharing – Dog starts initiating searches more confidently, covering areas without prompting and making independent decisions.
Odor Variety (Exposure to varying odor strengths and how the dog adjusts) – Dog is introduced to mild variations in odor strength—sometimes more Q-tips, sometimes less—learning to adapt to stronger or weaker odor presentations.
Distractors – Searches include closer or more tempting distractions (e.g., food near hides, interesting smells on containers).
Stay at Source (Building value through reinforcement at odor) – Dog begins to naturally remain at source longer, anticipating reinforcement. Handler continues rewarding generously to deepen the behavior.

Independent Sharing – Dog searches entire areas on their own, adjusting patterns and problem-solving without relying on the handler.
Odor Variety (Exposure to varying odor strengths and how the dog adjusts) – Dog confidently solves odor problems with a wide range of odor strength, from heavily scented hides to minimal scent with aging or less scented hides.
Distractors – Dog consistently ignores high-value distractions (like dropped food, people, animal scents) while working hides.
Stay at Source (Building value through reinforcement at odor) – Dog shows a clear, consistent indication and remains at source with strong expectation of reward, even during delayed reinforcement.

Independent Sharing – Dog consistently searches large, complex spaces with full independence, often solving odor problems handler never sees.
