President's Message - April
Are you ready to welcome spring’s spirit of renewal and rediscover your why as a coach? How might this season’s growth inspire new possibilities for you to connect, learn, and serve within our ICF Calgary community?
Spring has arrived in Calgary—the signs of renewal are everywhere. Longer days, blossoming buds, and that distinct energy of possibility in the air. Personally, I find this season deeply rewarding. As someone who grows most of our vegetables over the summer, I’ve started planning our garden, nurturing seedlings, and embracing the simple joy of getting my hands in the soil. Each season reminds me that growth takes patience, care, and faith in the process—a truth that holds just as firmly in coaching.
Over the past month, our Board of Directors has reached out to connect with members across the ICF Calgary community. We’ve heard a wide spectrum of experiences. Some coaches are finding it harder to secure contracts or sustain coaching hours. Others are enjoying a renewed sense of identity and momentum, exploring new niches or deepening their practice. Just like a Calgary garden, our profession moves through cycles—flourishing one season, replanting the next—each phase valuable in shaping our resilience and purpose.
This spring, as you reflect on your journey, I encourage you to reconnect with your “why.” Why did you become a coach? Why does this work matter to you? Centering on that motivation helps us weather uncertainty and orient toward growth, both personally and professionally.
We also have exciting opportunities to celebrate and connect as a community. International Coaching Week (ICW) 2026 runs from May 11–17, a global celebration dedicated to showcasing the impact of professional coaching. ICF Calgary will host an in-person event on May 14, featuring past chapter president Ed Temple as our keynote speaker. Please visit the events section for full details—we truly look forward to seeing you there.
A heartfelt thank-you goes out to all who have helped us identify and interview qualified candidates for our incoming board. Your participation strengthens the foundation of our chapter in meaningful ways. We’ll gather for our Annual General Meeting on Thursday, June 5, and I hope you’ll join us to celebrate another year of progress and partnership.
As we continue building community, we’re seeking volunteers who wish to serve in chapter roles and committees. These opportunities create powerful “growth edges”—moments to stretch professionally, sharpen leadership skills, and contribute to something larger than ourselves.
This season is all about rebirth, renewal, and purpose. Let’s stay focused not only on what we do, but why we do it—and together, continue cultivating a coaching community that helps Calgary thrive.
